Orlando man, 54, killed when SUV strikes electric scooter on Dean Road, FHP says

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 54-year-old man riding an electric scooter was struck from behind and killed late Wednesday in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 11:35 p.m. on Dean Road south of River Pines Court near Orlando.

The FHP said the man was riding a scooter north on Dean Road and stopped in the roadway. A Ford Excursion, driven by a 53-year-old Orlando man who was traveling behind the scooter, struck the back of it, troopers said.

The scooter driver was taken to AdventHealth Hospital East, where he later died, according to an FHP crash report.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
