Man tried to lure children into his car in Mascotte, police say

Investigators release photos of Toyota Corolla

MASCOTTE, Fla. – Mascotte police are searching for a man who they say tried to lure children into his car.

Officials said the incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Ridgemoor Drive and American Legion Road.

The children, one of whom is 10 years old, said the man spoke to them in Spanish and told them to get into his car, according to Mascotte officials, who said the children then ran home.

Investigators released photos of the man’s car, a silver newer-model Toyota Corolla.

The driver was described as an older man with balding or short hair.

Schools were notified and a bulletin was sent to nearby law enforcement agencies, officials said.

Anyone with information about the man or car is asked to call police.

Mascotte is about 35 miles west of Orlando.
