Peyton Ramsey threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score, and the 15th-ranked Wildcats clamped down defensively to beat Auburn 35-19 in the Citrus Bowl on Friday. Ramsey, a graduate transfer, totaled 291 yards passing and 50 yards rushing for Northwestern (7-2), which won its fourth straight bowl game. Ramsey put Northwestern ahead 14-0 on first-quarter TD passes of 35 yards to Chiaokhiao-Brown and 6 yards to Raine. COACHES OLD AND NEWFitzgerald and several Northwestern players were visibly emotional while celebrating with Hankwitz after the game. Northwestern: Fitzgerald has established the Wildcats as a consistent contender in the Big Ten and the future should be bright.

Central Florida prepares to host bowl games amid pandemic

ORLANDO, Fla. – Within the next two weeks, Central Florida will play host to some big college football bowl games. Steve Hogan is the CEO at Florida Citrus Sports, which is hosting two of the bowl games. He said the bowl games will also mean more exposure for Orlando and Central Florida. “Everybody when they go to these bowl games, they go to have fun,” Brown said. Tailgating will not be allowed at the Cheez It Bowl or the Citrus Bowl.

Organizers said Alabama and Michigan fans will collectively spend millions of dollars during their visit to Central Florida. John Hamin said he made $1,000 each day during the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) held at Camping World Stadium's Tinker Field in November. “It was crazy.”Hamin said he has seen a steady rise in money-making parking opportunities correlated with bigger, more frequent events at Camping World Stadium. Besides the two bowl games and EDC, Camping World hosted Monster Jam, Wrestlemania and the NFL Pro-Bowl in 2019.

Orlando City Soccer breaks record, wins championship

Orlando City Soccer broke an attendance record after more than 20,000 fans packed the Citrus Bowl for the USL PRO Championship game on Saturday night. The Orlando City Lions beat the Charlotte Eagles, 7-4. [WATCH: Ian Fuller, Miguel Gallardo recap season | Game highlights]A team spokesperson told Local 6 there were 20,886 fans watching the game. The Lions, who won the championship in 2011, held their final practice on Friday in Sanford. "I think anybody who comes out to the Citrus Bowl tomorrow night will see Orlando is a soccer city, the soccer capital of the southeast," Rawlins said.
