Hit-and-run crash leaves 1 woman dead, Clermont police say
CLERMONT, Fla. โ Police are investigating a hit-and-run that left a great grandmother of nine dead, according to the Clermont Police Department. According to Clermont Police, Diane Craig, 74, was hit by a car while trying to cross State Road 50 at Grand Highway at about 6:17 p.m. Saturday night. โWe wanted to try and save her because you know, she impacted everybodyโs life,โ said her granddaughter Brandi Simmons, in tears Monday morning. CLERMONT, Fla. A noose was found hanging from a tree in front of a Clermont doctors, according to city officials. Clermont officials said employees of the Painalgia Relief Center on Mohawk Road found the noose hanging from a tree in front of the building on Monday morning. City officials said the employees do not know of anyone who would be targeting the business for any reason. The incident is being investigated as a hate crime, according to the Clermont Police. CLERMONT, Fla. โ Authorities issued a new crime alert warning Clermont residents of calls from someone pretending to be an officer asking for personal information. Police say they have received reports of the departmentโs phone number being spoofed, with someone on the other end presenting themselves as a law enforcement officer. The department said the caller will ask for personal information, including Social Security numbers. Anyone who receives a call from the departmentโs number and is asked personal questions should hang up and call the Clermont police non-emergency line to verify that a real officer is calling, police said in a tweet. The nonemergency number is 352-394-5588.
