More than 1,500 people turn out for vaccinations at 3 Orange County high schools
More than 1,500 students and their families along with other members of the community turned out to receive COVID-19 vaccinations at Colonial, Evans and Jones high schools Wednesday and Saturday, according to Orange County Public Schools.

Orange County schools holding vaccination events for district employees this weekend
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Public Schools is partnering with the state to offer district employees COVID-19 vaccines Saturday and Sunday. Dozens of school district employees waited in line to get their shots outside of Ocoee High School Saturday morning. National guardsmen were also seen stationed at Colonial High School. The school district is hosting the walk-up vaccination sites at Colonial High School, East River High School, Freedom High School, Oak Ridge High School, and Ocoee High School. All OCPS employees, regardless of age or job title, are eligible to receive the vaccine at all Florida distribution sites.

Orange County Public Schools announces graduation dates for class of 2021
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Public Schools officials have announced graduation dates for the class of 2021. Timber Creek High School, May 26 at 2 p.m.University High School, May 26 at 7:30 p.m.Evans High School, May 27 at 8:30 a.m.Jones High School, May 27 at 2 p.m.Ocoee High School, May 27 at 7:30 p.m.Orange Technical College, June 2 at 8:30 a.m.District officials said the schedule is based on the availability of the arena during NBA playoffs or Solar Bears hockey games. In the event the Amway Center is unable to host any of the ceremonies on the above dates, alternative locations will be determined, the county said. Superintendent Barbara Jenkins spoke about these preliminary plans during her Community Update video, which was released Friday. All guidelines and protocols are being made in conjunction with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County and the Amway Center.

Colonial High AgriScience program receives honor from National Future Farmers of America
ORLANDO, Fla. – Colonial High School’s AgriScience program just received a huge honor the National Future Farmers of America after being awarded the Model of Excellence Award. Colonial High School is the Animal Sciences magnet for all of Orange County. Students raise animals with the goal of taking them to the state fair to be sold later this month. AdBecause Colonial’s program is a magnet for the county, students from anywhere in Orange County can apply. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, through Orange County Public School School Choice website.

Orange County Schools cancels JV volleyball game due to COVID-19 case
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Schools announced the JV volleyball game between Boone High School and Colonial High School has been canceled due to a positive COVID-19 case. The district said due to the positive case Boone players were asked to quarantine. The entire Boone campus will be cleaned and disinfected, according to school officials.
