How Disney is using recycled glass to touch up resort horse trails
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Though glass is among the items that are recyclable, much of the glass we throw into our recyclables ends up in a landfill. Each year, 20,000 visitors from around the world ride horse trails at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. A glass pulverizer is used to build up worn-down horse trails instead of using traditional sand that must be bought in and shipped. The machine files down the edges of the glass fragments, meaning no sharp edges to damage feet or hooves.
