Brandon Putty was found guilty of a 2018 burglary and battery inside a home on Haas Avenue NW in Palm Bay. A woman walked into her sleeping son’s room to check on him, when Putty jumped out of a closet and attacked her with a blacksmith’s hammer. She was knocked unconscious and the man inside the home came into the room and was also attacked by Putty. Palm Bay police obtained a warrant for Putty’s arrest and he was captured in Georgia two days later.

Palm Bay police said an officer got behind a car on Corning Avenue near Polk Street on Sunday when the passenger, later identified as Michael Varilone, jumped out of the moving vehicle and was seen running into the nearby woods. Police said a further search of the home led them to discover Varilone inside an above ground swimming pool at the home. Officer said he was found wedged between the stairs and the pool wall with his head just above the water. Palm Bay Fire Rescue was called to the home and after life-saving aid was attempted, Varilone was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Palm Bay man is facing charges of attempted murder and felony animal cruelty after he held a gun to his sisters head, fired shots at her, then killed a pet bird perched on her shoulder, according to the Brevard County Sheriffs Office. As his sister took the dead bird back to its cage, Morgan grabbed a firearm and fired rounds at his sister, striking the floor just behind the area where she was standing, a report showed. Morgan then put the barrel of the firearm to his sisters head and told her he would kill her, according to deputies. Investigators found that Morgans sister was eventually able to call for help, but after a call to 911 was placed, Morgan once again shot at his sister, put her in a headlock, then held the gun to her neck. Once deputies arrived at the home, Morgans sister was able to escape the house, a reported showed.

The man's body was discovered by a relative, authorities reported. Police responded to a call at 3 a.m. on Rembrandt Street in the southeast section of the city. The body was turned over the medical examiner's office where an autopsy and toxicology tests could assist in making a final determination for the cause of death, police reported. PALM BAY, Fla. - A day after Palm Bay police investigated three homicides, detectives were called back to one of the neighborhoods to investigate a fourth shooting that left a man critically injured, News 6 partner Florida Today reported. The latest shooting left an unidentified man in critical condition, said Lt. Tim Lancaster, of the Palm Bay Police Department. Police were called to the residential area on Northview Street Northeast just after midnight Wednesday after receiving reports a man was wounded. Palm Bay and Melbourne officers arrived in the northeast neighborhood and found the body of a man fatally shot. Calls about that shooting in a mostly industrial area of Palm Bay came in about 2:35 a.m. Tuesday.

Chris Imel said officers were called at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after shots were fired. Police identified the men killed as Jayln Decosta, 21, of Jacksonville and Jerome Harris Jr., 23, of Palm Bay. Officers found a vehicle thought to be related to that shooting in the area of Lichty Street and Palm Bay Road.
Homicide suspect turns himself in at Brevard County jail
PALM BAY, Fla. - Homicide suspect Jarrod Deenah has turned himself in at the Brevard Country jail, according to the Palm Bay Police Department. Deenah was wanted by the police for the fatal shooting of Ethan O'Neal on Nov. 1. Police said they thought Deenah was located in the Orlando area. Man shot to death at huge Halloween house party
PALM BAY, Fla. - A really big Halloween party with mostly teenagers ended in a deadly shooting, according to Palm Bay police. Officials said at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Palm Bay Police Department responded to a loud party in the area of Daysland Avenue Southwest. "Everybody was here from Palm Bay," a teenager who attended the party told News 6. Neighbors are also concerned about another shooting at a big party there just six months ago. Community leaders offer life lessons to Brevard County teens
PALM BAY, Fla. - Dozens of community leaders gather every week to teach teens important lessons that help prepare them for their future, including how to give a proper business handshake and tie a necktie. Outlaw, a real estate developer, was volunteering at a Cocoa elementary school when the idea came to him. "So, I said, 'I can teach them how to shake hands and tie a tie.'" "But these kids, once they hear your voice and they know you're serious and they know you care, they listen." "It's a way for me to mentor and kind of spiritually adopt these kids," Cannon said.
Police search for men accused of robbing Palm Bay fast food restaurant
PALM BAY, Fla. - Palm Bay police are searching for two men who stormed into a Wendys restaurant and held employees at bay while they robbed the safe, News 6 partner Florida Today reported. The robbery took place about 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Wendys restaurant, 1755 Palm Bay Road, just east of Babcock Street. Police said the two masked men followed an employee, who was taking out trash, into the restaurant. One of them tried to knock the cameras out, said Lt. Mike Smith of the Palm Bay Police Department. The workers were in the process of closing when the robbery took place.
Missing, endangered Palm Bay woman could be in Tampa
PALM BAY, Fla. - A schizophrenic Palm Bay woman who is considered missing and endangered could be in Tampa, according to the Palm Bay Police Department. Police said Janay Ruby Campbell, 24, was last seen when she left her Palm Bay home on Oct. 9. Campbell is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. She was last seen driving a blue 2004 Toyota Solara bearing Florida license plate number LYAR28. Anyone with information concerning Campbell's whereabouts is asked to contact their local authorities.
Driver dies after striking power pole in Palm Bay, police say

The crash was reported at about 7:30 p.m. on southbound U.S. 1 near Robert J Conlan Boulevard. Officials with the Brevard County Emergency Management Office said the crash broke a power pole and damaged a water line. Florida Power and Light crews are working to restore power. Video evidence released at one-year mark of Palm Bay double homicide
PALM BAY, Fla. - One year after two men were murdered, police are still looking for three unidentified suspects. For the first time, detectives Friday released video of who they think is responsible. "There were some items taken from the home because the third suspect coming out of the home is seen carrying some items," Jones said. It has been one year since 29-year-old Chad Harris and 23-year-old Ra'Shawn Brown were killed around 1 a.m.on the 900 block of Cotorro Road in Palm Bay. Ra'Shawn Devante' Brown, 23, and Chad Harris, 29. Officers got to the scene on Oct. 19, 2018, after a friend found the two men inside the home. Palm Bay police conduct dig in renewed search for Brandy Hall
PALM BAY, Fla. - Palm Bay police are actively pursuing leads in the search for missing firefighter Brandy Hall, last seen more than 13 years ago, including conducting a dig for her possible remains this month, according to department officials. News 6 partner Florida Today reports Hall's disappearance is no longer cold and Palm Bay police are dedicating more resources to solving her case. In a statement Monday, police said the department recently deployed cadaver dogs and ground penetrating radar to search areas known to be frequented by Hall. Florida Today reports the dig happened this month searching for Hall's remains. Police are not disclosing where or when the additional search will happen to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
Florida man named Samuel L. Jackson accused of threatening cop
PALM BAY, Fla. - A Florida man named Samuel L. Jackson became irritate and made shooting threats after he was arrested on a DUI charge, according to the Palm Bay Police Department. Police said they were called to Jupiter Boulevard and Caballero Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday to respond to a crash with injuries. Jackson, 43, denied having anything to drink despite showing signs of impairment, according to the affidavit. While on the way to an area hospital, Jackson told an officer he would shoot him as he continued to yell obscenities, records show. Jackson was given ketamine and other medications to calm him down while he was at a hospital, according to authorities.
Driver in crash accused of offering victim free Chili's to not call officers
PHOTO CREDIT: Brevard Sheriff's OfficePALM BAY, Fla. - A driver involved in a crash in Palm Bay is accused of offering the victim free food from Chili's Grill and Bar if the victim did not call officers to the scene, according to an arrested affidavit. Police said the driver of a silver Nissan Altima told officers he was hit by a silver convertible. Investigators said the victim told police the driver of the convertible offered him free food from Chili's if he did not contact officers about the crash. Later on, the victim was able to tell police both men in custody were the men involved in the crash. Police said Bell told officers he offered the victim free food from Chili's.
Palm Bay woman accused of carrying infant by neck
PALM BAY, Fla. - A 29-year-old Palm Bay woman is accused of carrying an infant by the neck, according to an arrest affidavit. Jasmine Pangelinan was charged with child abuse and child neglect. The arrest happened along Woodlake Drive. Palm Bay police said a witness told investigators she saw Pangelinan carrying an infant to the car by its hands and neck. Officials with the Department of Children and Families said the living room in Pangelinan's house was covered in food, and clothes and infested with roaches.
Melbourne mother accused of DUI with children in car
PALM BAY, Fla. - A Melbourne woman is accused of driving under the influence with two children in her car after she attempted to pay for gas with a car key at a Palm Bay gas station, according to police. A 911 caller reported a woman sitting in her car Sunday around 10:30 p.m. at the BP gas station on Jupiter Boulevard with two children inside the vehicle. The caller said the woman had tried to pay for gas with a car key and they suspected she was intoxicated, according to the arrest report. "The complainant called and stated that she had come into their gas station and tried to pay for gas with a car key and that she left two children in the car," Lt. Mike Smith said. During a court appearance Tuesday, Smith said she's the mother of one of the children who was in her car.
