PALM BAY, Fla. — A 32-year-old Palm Bay was arrested in the shooting and dismemberment of a 44-year-old woman missing from Indian Harbour Beach, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said Friday afternoon. Investigators said they arrested Daniel Stearns after human remains were discovered in a densely wooded area in Palm Bay. PALM BAY, Fla. — A crash has northbound lanes of I-95 shut down in Brevard County on Wednesday morning. The crash happened around 5 a.m. near mile marker 176 in the Palm Bay area. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a truck hauling oil overturned on the interstate highway with some of the oil spilling onto the road. Northbound lanes of I-95 are shut down from Palm Bay Road to the exit for U.S. Route 192. Channel 9 is monitoring traffic in the area and will provide updates on Eyewitness News.

PALM BAY, Fla. — The murders of two teens in a Palm Bay area known as “the Compound” have led city leaders and residents to ask what can be done to curb illegal activity. Over 2,700 acres of undeveloped property in southwest Palm Bay have become a source of growing concern since 14-year-old Jeremiah Brown, and a 16-year-old were shot and killed in the compound on Christmas Day. PALM BAY, Fla. — Palm Bay police and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious object found in a backyard off Airview Avenue near Croton Road in Palm Bay. According to police, the object found is being treated as a pipe bomb. Police said they have no idea what the object is at this time, and BCSO was called in to render the object harmless. PALM BAY, Fla. — A Florida high school student has created a petition asking the NFL to move this year’s Super Bowl to Saturday, or alternatively, for Monday to be a holiday. In the petition, Ruggeri outlines the benefits for the NFL: “It will get more money and more visitors to the game. As of Friday afternoon, the petition had garnered more than 84,000 signatures. Ruggeri said he started the petition two years ago but is refusing to give up hope, WTVT reported. Super Bowl LVI is scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in California on Feb. 13.

The building was reduced to a pile of smoldering rubble just a day before it was set to open as a cold weather shelter on any night 45 degrees or colder. Due to the heavy smoke, officers were forced to break windows to get the man out.
