A 70-year-old New Smyrna Beach woman died and a Pierson man was left with critical injuries Saturday night after a wrong-way crash on State Road 44 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

ODESSA, Texas — Parents in Texas have been arrested after their 8-month-old baby was found dead in their apartment on Tuesday. Officers reported that the inside of the apartment was dirty and there were dog waste on the floor and around the apartment, KOSA said. According to OPD, Gammage told officers that on Saturday, July 9, Pierson and him smoked some marijuana. Gammage told OPD that on the fourth toss, the baby fell on the floor, causing the bruising. According to KOSA, Gammage told officers that he had been dealing with a lot of stress lately and that the baby’s crying was part of it.

Motorcyclist killed in crash in Pierson

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Pierson on Wednesday. The Florida Highway Patrol said a motorcycle was heading southbound on U.S. 17 and a pickup truck was also heading southbound on U.S. 17. Investigators said another pickup truck was heading northbound on U.S. 17. FHP said the motorcyclist failed to see the pickup truck had stopped and the front of the bike hit the left rear of the pickup truck. Troopers said the motorcyclist died at the hospital and the crash remains under investigation.

Silver Alert issued for 77-year-old Volusia County man last seen in Saint Augustine

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. A Silver Alert has been issued for a 77-year-old Pierson man who was last spotted in Saint Augustine. Volusia County Sheriffs Office officials said William Seemann left his home on Shell Harbor Road Thursday afternoon for a doctors appointment in DeLand but never made it there. Deputies said Seemann made contact with police in the Saint Augustine area around 1 a.m. Friday while on the side of the road. Seemann was last seen wearing a gray or brown shirt, blue jeans and brown moccasin shoes, deputies said. According to the Sheriffs Office, Seemann may be traveling in a gray 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck with Florida tag KYTT50.

Man arrested after alleged knife fight at RV park, deputies say

A man was arrested after a fight involving a knife at an RV camp in Pierson on Saturday, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies took into custody 50-year-old Leonard Rushing, who was treated on the scene for a possible drug overdose and is facing domestic-violence related charges, deputies said. Rushing also has an active warrant out of Flagler County for violation of probation, deputies said. During a 911 call, deputies said a voice was heard screaming “I don’t want you to stab me to death.”Nobody was injured in the incident.

Thanksgiving food deliveries underway in Flagler

Flagler County clubs and agencies are delivering holiday meals ahead of Thanksgiving Day. Prepping for Thanksgiving Day, several civic organizations in Flagler County began meal deliveries last week. Flagler Beach Mayor Linda Provencher said her team plans to deliver 50 meals on Thanksgiving Day through Feed Flagler Beach. "There are 10 churches and one organization that get together every year and this is our 11th year, said Dottie Colletta, co-captain of Team Feed Flagler. Supported by a number of food drives throughout Flagler County, Women United Flaglers Chicks with Cans also brought in more than $6,000 worth of canned goods, according to Colletta, with the turkeys and chickens purchased through donations.
