Chicago-style foods are beloved by many, and the Chicago-based fast-casual restaurant chain Portillo’s has unveiled a sacred honor for the newly-elected leader of the Catholic Church.

Portillo’s announced Tuesday that the Chicago-based restaurant chain will open a new location near Orlando later this year.

As Portillo’s opens its latest Central Florida restaurant in Clermont, I thought I’d share my family’s fun history with the popular chain that specializes in Chicago-style hot dog and Italian beef sandwiches.

Another Portillo's could soon be coming to Central Florida.

Central Floridians are now going to have two Portillo’s locations to choose from.

The wait has been long but it was all worth it as Portillo's is now officially open in Orlando.

It's a date people have been patiently waiting for and it seems Portillo's is finally ready to open.

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you had March 23 circled on your calendar because Portillo’s was opening in Orlando, then you’re not going to like this update. The Chicago-style restaurant announced today it would not be opening its doors in a few weeks as anticipated. Restaurant officials said they are getting closer to opening, but the location needs more time. Portillo’s was first scheduled to open March 2 but that opening was delayed to March 23 during the last day of February. The Orlando location is the fast-casual chain’s first Central Florida restaurant, making it the third in Florida after Tampa and Brandon.

ORLANDO, Fla. – If you’ve been craving Portillo’s Chicago-style food in anticipation of its upcoming Orlando location opening, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer. We cannot wait to see all our loyal Portillo’s fans in Orlando, but as of today, guests will have to wait a little bit longer,” Portillo’s said. “We’re finishing up construction of our new restaurant and need to postpone the original opening date. Portillo’s thanks everyone for their patience and will be sure to share a new opening timeframe as soon as possible. A Portillo’s restaurant is opening in Orlando in March but until then the Chicago-style eatery will be serving up your favorites from its food truck.
