COCOA, Fla. - A 46-year-old Cocoa man was struck and killed early Thursday while walking along U.S. 1 in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported at 12:54 a.m. on U.S. 1 at Fairview Avenue in Cocoa.

The FHP said the man, whose name has not been released, was walking north in the outside northbound lane of U.S. 1 when a 2011 Nissan SUV driven by a 44-year-old Titusville man traveling in the same direction struck him.

The victim died at the scene, the FHP said.
