Beachline, SR 407 reopen after brush fire smoke clears

Burn bans issued across Central Florida

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Smoke from a lingering brush fire again forced officials to shut down major roads in east Orange and Brevard County on Tuesday.

The Florida Highway Patrol closed the Beachline around 6:10 a.m. between State Road 520 and Interstate 95. State Road 407 was also shut down from I-95 to S.R. 528. Both roads were reopened hours later.

Visibility concerns caused troopers to shut down the roads on Monday and every weekday last week.

Several brush fires continue to smolder across Central Florida. More than 100 wildfires are burning statewide.

Orange, Brevard, Seminole, Lake, Osceola and Polk counties are under mandatory burn bans because of the dry weather. Marion County has a voluntary burn ban.

With the lack of rain, Orlando is 7.12 inches below the yearly average. Daytona Beach is 4.86 inches below its average. And Melbourne is 3.87 inches under average.
