Aldi to buy 400 Winn-Dixie, Harveys groceries in Southern US
Discount grocer Aldi said Wednesday it's acquiring 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets in the Southern U.S. Under a proposed merger agreement, Aldi will acquire all outstanding shares of Jacksonville, Florida-based Southeastern Grocers Inc., the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys.

Ocoee police asking for tips about fatal shooting outside Aldi
OCOEE, Fla. – The Ocoee Police Department is asking the public for tips about a deadly shooting outside an Aldi on Colonial Drive. Ocoee Police released photos of the shooting victims (Copyright 2021 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.) Prior to the shooting, the victims were last seen in the Ocala area near exit 358 along Interstate 75, according to police. “Today we are seeking not only the community’s help here in the Ocoee area, and the surrounding Orlando area, but we were also speaking to Marion County and to the city of Ocala and the Ocala area,” Nylander said. Supermarket chain Aldi to pay workers to get COVID-19 vaccine
ORLANDO, Fla. – Discount supermarket chain Aldi has joined the growing list of companies paying workers to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Company officials say hourly workers will get up to four hours of paid time off to receive the vaccine. Employees will get two hours of pay for each dose they receive. The company says it will also cover the cost to administer the vaccine. Dollar General, Trader Joe’s and Instacart have also announced similar incentives.
2 dead, 1 critical in shooting outside ALDI in Ocoee, police say
OCOEE, Fla. – Three men were found shot inside a car in an ALDI parking lot Saturday morning, Ocoee officials say. According to authorities, the shooting occurred around 3:39 a.m. at 9250 W. Colonial Dr.Ocoee police responded to the call, finding one man dead, and two others shot, inside a four-door silver Nissan Altima that had crashed into a wall. The third person shot, Kens Fregiste, 19, remained in critical condition at a hospital. Lt. Mireya Iannuzzi admitted the investigation frustrated detectives, as they continue to figure out why this happened and who is responsible for it. Peaches linked to salmonella outbreak in 9 states
Tainted peaches could be the cause of a salmonella outbreak in nine states. More than 60 people were sickened from the bad fruit. The bagged peaches were reportedly sold under the Wawona brand name at Aldi stores in 16 states starting in June. The grocery store chain has recalled the peaches in the states affected. The FDA is urging anyone who bought the peaches to throw them out.
