TAMPA, Fla. – Anyone visiting Tampa’s popular outdoor destinations for the Super Bowl will be required to wear a mask to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor signed an executive order Wednesday saying masks must be worn outside while downtown, in neighborhoods around Raymond James Stadium — where the Super Bowl will be held — and in other tourist hotspots. Seminole County Schools extends mask mandate
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Students in Seminole County will have to follow the district’s mask mandate for a little longer. The school board voted Tuesday to extend the mandate indefinitely so that if Florida’s state of emergency expires, the mandate will still remain in effect. No charges for Florida man who pulled gun during mask dispute at Walmart
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Felony charges have been dropped against a Florida man who pointed a gun at another Walmart shopper in a dispute over not wearing a mask, authorities said. It showed Scavetta pointing a gun during the argument with Christopher Estrada, who was with his young daughter. Scavetta said Estrada struck him in the forehead with an umbrella and that led him to pull out his weapon. Police said Scavetta turned in his gun and has a valid concealed carry permit. Estrada said he raised the umbrella after Scavetta threatened him but wasn't sure if it made contact.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given the OK for the world’s first fully transparent surgical mask. They're made by ClearMask, an American medical supply company. Traditional surgical masks block mouths, which can sometimes impede effective communication. The company says ClearMask helps improve visual communication while still offering a high level of protection. ClearMask says their masks are especially helpful for people with hearing impairments and during conversations between people who don't speak the same language.

According to health experts, neck gaiters could even spread the virus further than not wearing a covering at all. Researchers from Duke University found that the neck gaiter they tested was “worse than nothing.”“The neck gaiter that we tested did essentially nothing, and worse than nothing, because it appeared to make large droplets into small droplets,” Isaac Henrion, the study’s co-author, told CBS News. Jason Copenhaver approached the child's table Sunday and asked the boy if he was wearing a mask, according to Treasure Island police. He then grabbed the boy's hand tightly and put his face next to the child's, telling the boy he now had the coronavirus, according to police reports. Victim stated that (Copenhaver) was in such close proximity that spit particles from (Copenhavers) mouth landed in his face, an officer wrote in the police report. Police said Copenhaver told them he didnt know if he had coronavirus and has never been tested.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Florida man is facing felony charges for pointing a gun at another Walmart shopper who had told him to wear a mask, officials said Thursday. That made it difficult to breath and fogged his glasses, so he took it off, he told investigators. The men agreed in their statements that Estrada told Scavetta he should wear a mask and Scavetta cursed at him. Estrada told Scavetta not to curse in front of his daughter. Scavetta, who has a concealed weapons permit, told investigators he pulled his .40-caliber handgun because he feared for his life.

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. An unmasked man pulled a gun on a masked shopper and threatened to kill him during an apparent confrontation over masks at a Florida Walmart store, sheriff's officials said. The Royal Palm Beach store's security video shows the unmasked man pushing an older man in a wheelchair through the store on Saturday afternoon, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. That's when the unmasked man gives the shopper the middle finger before pulling a handgun from his waistband, the sheriff's office said. The unmasked man made a death threat before leaving the store. The man then pushes the wheelchair to the parking lot and the pair left in a white Chevrolet Equinox SUV, sheriff's officials said.

On Wednesday, City Commissioners in New Smyrna Beach voted three to two to mandate the wearing of face masks. Seminole County mask mandate went into effect Wednesday. In Volusia County, officials agreed they want people to voluntarily wear a mask rather than enforcing a mask mandate. The DeLand commissioners meeting is set at 4 p.m. Council meeting to consider mandatory mask legislation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Titusville.
