Last year, the state recorded 637 manatee deaths, and in 2019, 607. AdThe largest number of deaths is in Brevard County, with 179, the newspaper reported. But the loss of sea grass there is forcing them into other areas. AdRose said there are probably more manatee deaths than the state has documented and the causes might not be accurately attributed.

Ron DeSantis said Monday that he would issue an executive order forbidding local governments and businesses from requiring so-called โvaccine passportsโ to show proof that customers have been inoculated against the coronavirus. The requirement will be lowered again on April 5 to include anyone age 18 and over, DeSantis announced last week. As of Sunday, the state of Florida reported that 2,044,005 coronavirus cases and 33,819 deaths. DeSantis said allowing governments and businesses to require proof of vaccinations would be โan unprecedented expansionโ of public and private power.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. โ A Florida sheriffโs deputy has become the seventh person in the agency to die of complications from the coronavirus. The Broward Sheriff's Office said on its Facebook page that 48-year-old Sgt. Shane Owens died on Saturday. He had been hospitalized and on a ventilator prior to his death, the sheriff's office said.
