Small plane crashes into Lake Harris
The pilot of a small plane was uninjured Sunday morning after the plane had mechanical issues and crashed into Lake Harris, according to the Tavares Police Department. The pilot was unable to land the plane back at the Leesburg International Airport, but after the plane crashed into the lake, was able to swim to safety, police said.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said he understood Greece’s unwillingness to engage in dialogue due to Turkey’s decision to again dispatch its ship. “And if there isn’t, then the European Union will have to face the question of how to deal with this and what consequences this will have,” Maas said. “It is one more provocation, in the continued provocations by the Turkish side,” Petsas said.
Truck clips wing of airplane making emergency landing on Alligator Alley in Florida
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. A small plane made an emergency landing Wednesday morning at Mile Marker 40 on Alligator Alley, officials from the city of Weston confirmed via Twitter. According to Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac, the single-engine Mooney M20R made the emergency landing at 9:50 a.m. According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Yanko Reyes, the pilot, identified only as a 45-year-old man, reported a mechanical issues on that plane that affected the engine. Reyes said the pilot was forced to land the plane in the right emergency shoulder. The driver of the landscaping truck was also not injured, authorities said.
Small plane makes emergency landing on Florida highway
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing on a Florida highway Friday. The 29-year-old pilot had a mechanical issue with his Piper PA28-140 that affected the flow of fuel and wasn't able to return to the plane to its home base safely, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He landed the aircraft on the Sawgrass Expressway in Broward County just after 10:30 p.m. The plane didn't strike any cars and the pilot wasn't injured, the department said. The plane blocked two lanes of traffic until it could be moved to the median shoulder.
