July's full moon will once again be a supermoon, reaching its perigee or closest point to our planet on July 13.

The Strawberry Supermoon, or June’s full moon, will shine in the night sky through the middle of this week.

April’s full moon is also known as the Paschal Moon, which plays a part in the date on which Christians celebrate Easter. Easter falls on the first Sunday following the Paschal Moon.

According to EarthSky.org, the Harvest Moon can hit up to two weeks before the official start of fall, or two weeks after. In the Southern Hemisphere, the Harvest Moon happens in March or early April. This year, the Harvest Moon will be average-sized but you may think it looks bigger or more orange.

July’s full moon will shine bright in the evening sky Friday.

The first full moon of summer 2021, also known as the Strawberry Moon, rises tonight (June 24), marking the last supermoon of the year. June’s full moon arrives Thursday (June 24) at 2:40 p.m. EDT (1940 GMT). Technically, the moon will officially be full before it appears above the horizon, as the full moon rises in the eastern sky at 8:53 p.m. EDT (0053 Friday GMT). The moon will appear full for about three days, starting early Wednesday (June 23) morning through early Saturday (June 26) morning, according to a statement from NASA. Tonight’s full moon is also a supermoon, which occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, also known as perigee. In turn, the moon will look slightly bigger and brighter since it's closer to the Earth than usual. Pink supermoon is the first and one of only two supermoons of 2021.

Oct. 31 (The Hunter’s Moon): This name is typically given because hunters would track and kill prey under the fall moonlight, collecting food before winter. This rare double full moon occurrence would also mean that this Halloween will be a blue moon because it’s the second full moon in one month. This is where the saying “once in a blue moon” comes to play.
