NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. โ UPDATE: Authorities said around 5:45 p.m. Monday that Brianna Flake has been found safe. Original story below:A missing child alert has been issued for a 14-year-old girl who might be with a 21-year-old man, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Brianna Flake was last seen Friday in the area of the 95300 block of Mobley Heights Road in Fernandina Beach. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, about 120 pounds and has dark hair that could be dyed light blonde. The Jeep has a black hardtop and black fender flares.
Video: Driver flees crash scene after being pulled from burning vehicle, police say
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. A woman who was pulled from her burning vehicle during the aftermath of a crash fled from the scene before first responders could speak with her, according to the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department. Video released from the department shows a Jeep with its front end smashed and a second vehicle nearby engulfed in flames. Officer Castellano immediately ran over to the burning vehicle to verify that no one else was trapped inside. The man who had been driving the Jeep, Jacob McRae, told police that the other vehicle pulled in front of him. After the crash, the other vehicle burst into flames as the driver was trapped inside.
91,000 Jeeps recalled over transmission issue
ORLANDO, Fla. Fiat Chrysler is recalling 91,000 Jeep Cherokees over fears the SUVs could lose power while moving. The recall involves Cherokees from the 2014-2017 model years. In addition to losing power, the company says the parking function may also not engage which could lead to a roll-away crash. Fiat Chrysler says recall notices will be sent to Jeep owners starting next month.
Man drives Jeep off 6-story roof of Los Angeles-area garage
SANTA MONICA, Calif. โ A man drove his Jeep off the the sixth floor of a Los Angeles-area parking garage early Sunday and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. When officers arrived shortly after midnight, they found the destroyed vehicle up against a McDonald's restaurant across the street from the garage in Santa Monica, police said. Firefighters extricated him from the wreckage and took him to a local trauma center, where he was listed in critical condition, the Santa Monica Fire Department said. Two passengers inside the Jeep were able to jump out before it went off the roof, the Los Angeles Times reported. Because the man was receiving medical treatment, investigators werenโt yet able to determine whether drugs or alcohol were a factor, the newspaper said.
Road-rage driver holds victim at gunpoint after causing crash on I-95, deputies say
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. โ A road-rage driver who caused a crash while merging onto Interstate 95 held a man who was in the other vehicle at gunpoint and ordered him to the ground, according to the Brevard County Sheriffโs Office. The Jeep driver said she couldnโt speed up because there were other vehicles in front of her. Costin then cut off the Jeep, forcing the Jeep driver off the road, according to the report. The affidavit said the Jeep driver and Costinโs wife both stayed in the vehicles and called 911 to report what happened. Costin surrendered himself to the Brevard County Jail Monday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
