MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man who fired shots at a Florida Highway Patrol trooper during a chase in Ocala has been taken into custody, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
The business owner chased after James, firing multiple shots at him.
Authorities said a witness told a trooper that James had gotten into a silver Nissan sedan, so the trooper got into his patrol car and began chasing after the car.
It was during the pursuit that someone in the passenger’s seat of the sedan, later identified as 20-year-old Fashawn Micquiel King, began firing shots toward the patrol vehicle, according to police.
James is facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding and principle to attempted murder.
