Man killed in hit-and-run on Orange Avenue in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. โ A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning in Orlando, prompting police to close Orange Avenue. The fatal wreck happened near Orange and Pineloch avenues, south of Michigan Street. Investigators say Holmes was crossing South Orange Avenue from west to east when a vehicle, traveling southbound struck the pedestrian and left the scene. Southbound Orange Avenue was closed at Michigan Street, and Orange Avenue was closed in both directions at Pineloch and Southgate Commerce Boulevard. Orange Avenue was reopened around 10:30 a.m., police said.
FDOT to close portion of I-4 overnight Sunday
The Florida Department of Transportation is closing westbound Interstate 4 from Michigan Street to Orange Blossom Trail, and the westbound I-4 entrance ramp from Kaley Avenue overnight from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers on I-4 will be routed off I-4 to Michigan Street (Exit 81) to reenter westbound I-4 from Orange Blossom Trail. Drivers entering I-4 from Kaley Avenue also will be detoured to Orange Blossom Trail.
I-4 construction shifts busy exit ramp into final configuration
ORLANDO, Fla. โ Construction crews shifted a busy Orlando Interstate 4 exit ramp into its final configuration for the I-4 Ultimate Project, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. The I-4 eastbound exit to South Street (Exit 82B), and eastbound entrance ramps from Kaley Avenue and Michigan Street have changed. Changes include:The eastbound I-4 exit ramp to South Street, currently combined with the eastbound I-4 exit to State Road 408, is shifting into its final alignment as soon as Saturday morning. The eastbound I-4 entrance ramp from Michigan Street will close as soon as Friday. Drivers wanting to access eastbound I-4 will need to use the new temporary entrance ramp to eastbound I-4 from Kaley Avenue scheduled to open Saturday morning.
