The Sheriff’s Office said around 4:45 p.m. deputies responded to the area of 4855 South Orange Blossom Trail in reference to the near-drowning report. Deputies said a woman in her 20s had been pulled out of Lake Tyler by civilians and was rushed to a local hospital. The Sheriff’s Office said a young boy was located in the woman’s apartment unresponsive. Investigators said deputies provided medical aid until the child was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
9-year-old girl, grandfather struck after shots fired into Apopka home, police say
APOPKA, Fla. – A 9-year-old girl and her grandfather were struck and wounded early Monday when shots were fired from a trail into their home, police said. The shooting was reported in the 1100 block of Old Apopka Road. According to Apopka police, the victims were struck by bullets after shots were fired from a nearby field. Leesburg firefighters receive life saving awards
LEESBURG Two Leesburg firefighters received 2019 Life Saving Awards last week. Arnold Palmer Hospital recognized Lt. Woody Straub and engineer Leonides Gonzalez for their outstanding performance in pediatric trauma care for actions after a traffic accident in November. Several people were injured including a teenager, who was seriously hurt and required transport to Arnold Palmer. Representatives from Arnold Palmer and Lake EMS along with Lake County Medical Director Dr. Desmond Fitzpatrick presented the awards Feb. 11 at Fire Station 1. 4-month-old baby dies after Florida Turnpike crash
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The infant involved in last week’s Turnpike crash has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Four-month-old Nolan Panetta was critically injured during a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes near mile marker 261. The infant was in a car seat in the back of a 2011 Toyota Corolla, according to the crash report. Alexandre suffered minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital, according to a crash report.
