ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ An infant was critically injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Floridaโs Turnpike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash happened around 9:20 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 261. The manโs grandson, a 4-month-old, was in a car seat in the back of the car and suffered critical injuries, the FHP said. Alcohol did not play a role in the crash, the FHP said. Three of the four southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed after the crash.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ A man who was on the run for hours after fatally stabbing his employer at a construction site on Floridaโs Turnpike Monday morning has been taken into custody, according to the Orange County Sheriffโs Office. The victim, identified Monday afternoon as 28-year-old William Steven Knight, was pronounced dead at the scene, Orange County sheriffโs spokesman Christian Marrero said. Exit 254 was closed for hours on Monday as deputies investigated the fatal stabbing but it has since been reopened.
Man, teenage girl shot in turnpike road rage incident, FHP says
CLERMONT, Fla. โ Two people, including a teenage girl, were injured in a shooting Saturday morning that shut down a portion of Florida's Turnpike in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. All southbound lanes of the turnpike were shut down before State Road 50 around 10:15 a.m., after a 37-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, both from Miami, were shot by someone in a gray Toyota Camry, troopers said. [READ: Orlando ranks among top U.S. cities for road rage]Both victims were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds, officials said. Troopers said the shooting was believed to have been a case of road rage and are reviewing surveillance video at tollbooths to identify the driver of the gray Camry. Troopers are advising all drivers to not engage in a road rage incident, because you don't know what the other driver has as far as weapons.
