Second teen victim dies in shooting near Baldwin Park
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ A second victim has died in a shooting near Baldwin Park, deputies said Wednesday. The double fatal shooting took place around 7:17 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Carley Court, east of Baldwin Park in Orlando. AdBoth victims were taken to a hospital, where one of them died Tuesday night, according to deputies, who said the other man died overnight. According to investigators, one of the victims crashed a car into a home on Decatur Street after he was shot. โI saw a car that was apparently driven through the front door of the house.โSevven said one of the shooting victims apparently jumped into a car and ended up crashing into the home he owns.

ORLANDO, Fla. โ A 34-year-old man was killed in an officer-involved shooting when he pointed a gun at investigators Wednesday night in Baldwin Park, according to the Orlando Police Department. According to police, officers responded to a domestic call around 8:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of Baldwin Park Street. Police said authorities were getting ready to negotiate with Robertson when he came outside and pointed a gun at the officers. One officer, identified by police as Mike Zambito, shot and killed Robertson, officials said.
Local coronavirus mask mandates remain in effect as Florida moves to phase 3 of reopening
ORLANDO, Fla. โ As the Sunshine State moves to the third and final stage of its coronavirus reopening plan, restrictions placed at the state level have been lifted, however, local mask mandates remain in effect across Central Florida. (News 6)The governorโs executive order doesnโt specifically address mask mandates because a statewide mask mandate was never issued. Instead, itโs been up to local governments to decide whether theyโd like to require masks and in Central Florida, several of them have. On Tuesday, DeLand Mayor Robert F. Apgar reminded residents that the mask mandate still applies, even though they havenโt been issuing fines. The City of Cocoa Beach announced that its mask mandate will be rescinded beginning on Monday, Oct. 5.
Bicyclist found dead in Baldwin Park
BALDWIN PARK, Fla. A bicyclist was found dead Thursday morning in Orlando, police said. Authorities said officers were called to Lake Baldwin Lane and Lindale Avenue and found the cyclist lying in the road. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Detectives have launched an investigation to determine what happened. No other details have been released.

Bright Horizons day care settles lawsuits over child molestation
ORLANDO, Fla. โ Bright Horizons, one of the country's largest childcare providers, has settled negligence lawsuits filed by two families who claim their children were sexually molested by a former daycare employee, court records show. The terms of the settlements are confidential, court records indicate. At the same time, Bright Horizons was being sued in civil court, the childcare provider had been paying Hamiltonโs criminal defense attorneys and legal expenses, a News 6 investigation revealed. Six months after his criminal case was closed, authorities arrested Hamilton for an unrelated child molestation incident that allegedly occurred in Virginia prior to his employment by Bright Horizons. A Bright Horizons spokesperson and an attorney representing the plaintiffs did not immediately respond to emails from News 6 inquiring about the lawsuit settlement.

The annual โOut of the Darknessโ walk around Lake Baldwin is hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This year, Crossman Career Builders sponsored the walk that supports prevention through early detection of depression and other mental health conditions. The 2.6-mile walk raises money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) and at suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
Joggerโs screams scare off man who grabbed her from behind at Baldwin Park
ORLANDO, Fla. โ A jogger who was grabbed from behind at Baldwin Park scared away the culprit by screaming, according to the Orlando Police Department. Authorities said the woman was running along Lake Baldwin Lane near Ridley Avenue around 5:45 a.m. Friday when a 6-foot tall man grabbed the jogger from behind. Authorities said after speaking with the woman, theyโve determined there were no indicators to believe it was a sexual attack. Police said the man was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and shorts and had hair that was slightly shorter than shoulder-length. Jennifer Sheehan, who walks regularly at Baldwin Park, said sheโs not likely to run or walk when itโs dark outside.
