Mark your calendar: Universal’s passholder appreciation days begin Aug. 10
Universal Orlando is set to celebrate its passholders with appreciation days beginning Monday, Aug. 10. Click here for a complete look at the Universal Orlando passholder appreciation days exclusive menu. The appreciation days will run Aug. 10 to Sept. 30. Guests who are not a Universal Orlando passholder can purchase any annual or seasonal pass and get three months free. Officials said the special offer is valid on any 2-park and 3-park annual and seasonal pass and is available for purchase through September 30.
Universal Orlando reopens to some guests; Wheel at ICON Park spins again
Universal Orlando theme parks will open to the general public on Friday. Meanwhile, the Wheel at ICON Park is also reopening guests on Wednesday. “We’re excited guests can once again enjoy the best view of the City Beautiful from the Wheel,” ICON Park president and CEO Chris Jaskiewicz said. Restaurants and other attractions at ICON Park have been open for a couple of weeks with new restrictions in place. The Wheel at Icon Park will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.John Goodman, vice president of sales and marketing at ICON Park, said there are new safety measures in place.
Face covering required: Universal’s CityWalk to reopen with limited operations
ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal Orlando Resort’s CityWalk announced Tuesday it will open for limited operations. Shopping venues are limited to Airbrush, retail services at Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company and the Universal Studios Store. All team members will be required to wear a face covering and they are asking guests to do the same. “There is going to be incredible pressure on the custodial, parks services teams to maintain cleanliness, to make sure tables are wiped down.”Universal Orlando theme parks and resorts have been closed since mid-March. Universal Orlando officials have not released any plans regarding opening theme parks.
Universal Orlando to check temperatures of all employees to prevent spread of COVID-19
Effective Friday, the resort will take temperatures of all employees, contractors, vendors and other business visitors before they enter the property, according to a letter sent to employees by Bill Davis, president and COO of Universal Orlando Resort. Employees were directed to the company’s COVID-19 and Resort Closure Team Member information page for further instruction. “Regardless of your temperature, if you are not feeling well or have any symptoms, including mild cold symptoms, you should not come to property! Universal Orlando closing CityWalk, hotels due to coronavirus
ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal Orlando announced Monday it will close CityWalk, along with all of its hotels, to prevent further spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19. CityWalk at Universal Orlando will close at midnight Tuesday and all hotels at Universal Orlando will close at 5 p.m. Friday, March 20. Universal Orlando officials said they expect the closures to last until the end of the month. Disney also announced Monday it will close its shopping and entertainment district Disney Springs along with resort hotels.

Coldstone Creamery, redesigned Starbucks coming to CityWalk
ORLANDO, Fla. – A newly redesigned Starbucks along with a new Coldstone Creamery are opening this week at Universal Orlando's CityWalk. Coldstone Creamery opened on the ground level next to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. on Monday. The redesigned Starbucks opens Friday next to Coldstone. The Starbucks will move to the ground floor and will be double the size of the original, second-floor location. The redesigned Starbucks will also include outdoor seating.
Universal Orlando offering summer packages to Florida residents

Osceola Co. teacher vies for 'Teacher of the Year' award
Cloud High School teacher Nanci Brillant is one of five finalists vying for the 2013 "Florida Teacher of the Year" award on Thursday in Orlando. She teaches reading at the Osceola County high school. When she was chosen as a finalist, Mrs. Brillant was given a $5,000 check and a $500 Macy's gift card. As the ambassador, Mrs. Brillant would tour the state to talk about educational opportunities and challenges in Florida. Police: Woman suffers broken arm in Universal Orlando arrest
ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman suffered a broken arm as she was being escorted out of Universal Studios CityWalk at about midnight on Sunday, according to Orlando police. Police said Amy Garcia, 28, battered three officers, one while they attempted to escort her out, the other two while they attempted to file arrest paperwork. Officers said during the arrest, they had to spray Garcia with a "department-issued chemical agent." She has been charged with battery on law enforcement officers and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment of her broken arm. Watch Local 6 for more information.
Universal opens drive-in movie mini golf course
The Hollywood Drive-In had its grand opening Monday. Universal says the Hollywood Drive-In is appropriate for all ages, including toddlers. While Universal reps said opening the attraction during spring break was a coincidence, vacationing families say it was a nice surprise. I like the theme, the drive-in theme. The Hollywood Drive-In is open daily from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m.
Report: Ex-CityWalk worker charged with molestation
ORLANDO, Fla. – Deputies have arrested a former employee of NASCAR Sports Grille they say exposed himself to a girl at the restaurant and touched her inappropriately, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Randy Taylor, 26, was arrested Monday and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious conduct of a person younger than 16-years-old for the Nov. 22 incident, according to an arrest warrant. Records show the warrant for Taylor's arrest was issued in December 2011.
