Cox)Anfernee Simons, a guard for the Portland Trailblazers who grew up in Altamonte Springs and attended Edgewater High School, won the slam dunk contest at the NBAโs annual All-Star game on Sunday. In an abbreviated contest held at halftime of the game, the 21-year-old Simons was chosen the winner by three of the five judges who presided over the contest. On his final dunk, Simons pretended the kiss the rim as he threw down a one-handed dunk. Orange County rivalry football game canceled due to COVID-19 cases
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ An Orange County Friday night high school rivalry game has been canceled due to coronavirus cases. The Edgewater High School vs. Bishop Moore Catholic High School football game will not take place on Friday, Orange County Public School officials confirmed. We are in need of a new opponent this week due to our game with Bishop Moore being cancelled. โ Edgewater Football (@EdgewaterFBall) October 28, 2020From Oct. 18- Oct. 24, the Department of Health reported three Bishop Moore Catholic High School students tested positive for the coronavirus. West Orange High School reopens after positive cases of COVID-19
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ Students and staff members at West Orange High School are returning to class on Thursday after the campus shut down due to about a dozen positive cases connected to campus. West Orange High School is the second school to shutdown after Olympia High School reported several positive cases last month. Jenkins said a football game scheduled for Oct. 2 between Edgewater High School and Wekiva High School has been canceled as a precaution. โEdgewater High School team had a couple of cases, one of them was in the rapid testing the other was symptomatic,โ she said.
Edgewater High vs. Wekiva High game canceled after positive COVID-19 cases
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ The Edgewater High School vs. Wekiva High School football game scheduled for Oct. 2 has been canceled after two positive coronavirus cases were confirmed, according to Orange County Public Schools. School officials said the positive cases resulted in quarantines among the Edgewater High School football team. OCPS said the decision to quarantine players does not impact all of the students at Edgewater High because of face-to-face football player cohorts. School officials said the entire campus will be disinfected. The district said Wekiva High School is looking for a team to play on Friday.

EDGEWATER, Fla. Football workouts this summer look familiar but its 2020, so its different. It's all about safety these days, and the same goes for the Edgewater Eagles. Groups of no more than 10 undergo daily temperature checks which are part of the football teams voluntary workouts. But for players like Leary, who is committed to play for the University of Alabama, its not all bad. Im starting to connect with a lot of freshmen, upcoming freshmen.
Missing girl found safe in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. โ A missing 17-year-old girl with autism who was last seen Tuesday afternoon at an Orlando high school has been found safe, police said. Details about the recovery of Molly Dixon, who was found near Ardsley Drive and Maury Road, have not been released. Molly was reported missing after she disappeared from Edgewater High School.
