Man accused of shooting at trooper in Marion County taken into custody
MARION COUNTY, Fla. โ A man who fired shots at a Florida Highway Patrol trooper during a chase in Ocala has been taken into custody, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The business owner chased after James, firing multiple shots at him. Authorities said a witness told a trooper that James had gotten into a silver Nissan sedan, so the trooper got into his patrol car and began chasing after the car. It was during the pursuit that someone in the passengerโs seat of the sedan, later identified as 20-year-old Fashawn Micquiel King, began firing shots toward the patrol vehicle, according to police. James is facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding and principle to attempted murder.

ORLANDO, Fla. โ There will soon be a new option for drivers in the Sunshine State. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles says it will offer mobile driver licenses in 2021. The agency says it will offer licenses through an app on smartphones and tablets. Two employees from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles have been fired for their remarks toward protesters, according to the department. โThe Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles immediately terminated the employment of two individuals who recently made hateful, racist and threatening remarks directed at protestors,โ FLHSMV said in a statement.
