TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On Friday, the Florida Lottery announced the winner of a $1 million top prize ticket sold in Central Florida. Stephen Smith, 43, of Cocoa, claimed a lump-sum payment of $790,000.00 after winning on a THE FASTEST ROAD TO $1,000,000 Scratch-Off game. Smith purchased his winning ticket from a 7-Eleven in Melbourne. “The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket,” officials said. The $30 game launched in February and features 155 top prizes of $1,000,000 and over $948 million in cash prizes, lottery officials said.

Man wins $2M lottery after clerk gives him wrong ticket

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A man in suburban Detroit was given the wrong lottery ticket. The Michigan Lottery said the man stopped at a gas station in Eastpointe, Michigan, to put air in a tire. "The clerk handed me the $20 ticket by mistake. I am sure glad I did!” the man said in a statement released Tuesday by the Lottery. He decided to take a lump sum of about $1.3 million instead of $2 million spread over many years, the Lottery said.

The 64-year-old man purchased the winning ticket at South Florida Publix located at 11750 Southwest 104th Street in Miami. Publix will receive a $30,000 bonus commission for selling the ticket. The Gold Rush Special Edition Scratch-Off game launched in February 2019 and features six top prizes of $15 million, lottery officials said.

Central Florida woman wins $2 million top prize on scratch-off game

OCALA, Fla. – Another Central Floridian is a big winner from a scratch-off game. Joann Fink, 55, scratched her way to the $2 million top prize on the CASHWORD Scratch-Off game, according to Florida Lottery officials. The Ocala woman chose to receive the one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,475,000 after purchasing her winning ticket from Maricamp Qwik King Food Store in Ocala. The retailer who sold the ticket will receive a $4,000 bonus commission. CASHWORD is a $10 scratch-off game that launched in August 2017 and has overall odds of 1 in 3.38, lottery officials said.

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man turned $5 into $1 million with a lucky scratch. Espinosa Toledo, 45, bought a $5 Gold Rush Classic Scratch-Off game and won the top prize of $1 million, Florida Lottery officials announced. The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven at 13451 Landstar Boulevard in Orlando, and the retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the ticket. Toledo chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $705,000, officials said. Gold Rush Classic launched in January 2019 and has 1 in 3.97 odds of winning, according to the Florida Lottery.

Akram Awad, 42, of Jacksonville, won by playing the $2,000,000 CASHWORD Scratch-Off game, The Florida Lottery announced. He chose to receive his winnings in annual installments of $80,000 a year for 25 years. Awad purchased his winning ticket from In and Out, located at 2110 South Highway 17 in Crescent City. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

Florida Lottery Scratch-Off partnership to boost education funding

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Lottery has signed a new Scratch-Off contract that is expected to bring a major boost to the state's education funding. The new partnership with Scientific Games is projected to generate $135 million over 7 1/2 years. The company will continue to serve as the Lottery's main Scratch-Off game provider through 2027, hoping to bring in at least $18 million each year. "The Florida Lottery has been a dependable contributor to education in our state, transferring $1.9 billion last fiscal year and over $1 billion each of the last 17 years. Throughout the Lottery's collaboration with Scientific Games, the Lottery has experienced nine years of record sales and is currently ranked fourth in the world in overall Scratch-Off sales, according to a news release.
