Demand down at most COVID-19 testing sites across Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. โ Most free COVID-19 testing sites in Florida donโt come with the same crowds they once saw at the beginning of the pandemic. โThereโs certainly not demand for that many tests right now,โ Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said at a news conference in Clearwater on Sept. 29. Mike Jachles serves as the spokesperson for the testing site at the Orange County Convention Center, where theyโre now averaging about 500 people tested a day. A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health told News 6:While the number of tests per day has fluctuated with demand, testing remains widely available for Floridians throughout the state. โThe City of Orlando will continue to do COVID-19 testing sites throughout Orlando neighborhoods as long as the state and the county provide testing kits and lab resources.โAt the state-run site at the Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida, they continue to see record testing including more than 2800 tests done on Friday.
Second Volusia County woman tests positive for coronavirus
DeSantis spoke to the media Monday night the Florida Department of Health said a second woman in Volusia County has tested positive for the coronavirus. This past weekend a 66-year-old Volusia County woman also tested positive for the coronavirus. Private laboratories have started testing for coronavirus in Florida, according to Gov. Results from the private labs will be forwarded to the state, according to Gov. ORLANDO, Fla. โ LaVon Bracy, a native Floridian raised by parents who were active during the civil rights movement, became an activist herself in high school when she and three brave others fought to end segregation in the Jim Crow South. Bracy was a senior in high school when she endured what she called a year of isolation.
