According to a statement from the FSU, Thrasher learned of his positive result at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday after taking a test earlier in the day. Jean Thrasher received her positive result late Monday night after an unrelated hospital and rehabilitation facility stay. The couple are home isolating and feeling well, according to FSU. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – As coronavirus cases spike among Florida State University students, local police said Sunday they broke up a party at an off-campus student apartment complex that involved about 700 vehicles and more than 1,000 attendees. Police said the vehicles at the student apartment complex were blocking travel lanes and a Leon County sheriff’s helicopter was used to help disburse the crowd. Florida State University reported that more than 1,400 students and 26 employees had tested positive for COVID-19 through Sept. 18. The university updates its coronavirus numbers weekly. Florida has more than 700,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and 14,200 people have died from the disease, according to statistics released by the state Department of Health on Sunday.

TALLAHASSEE Citizens Property Insurance Corp. will pay for a Florida State University study to determine how increasing rates in the private market can be slowed, as policies are expected to shift to the state-backed insurer of last resort in the coming year. TALLAHASSEE An appeals court restored felony hazing charges Thursday against three former Florida State University students charged in the case of a pledge who died of alcohol poisoning. The First District Court of Appeal issued the 2-1 ruling more than a year after a lower court dropped the felony charges and instead said prosecutors could move forward with misdemeanor charges against Luke Kluttz, Anthony Oppenheimer and Anthony Petagine. "I spoke to Coach Taggart this afternoon to let him know of our decision," said Florida State athletics director David Coburn. He was head coach there from 2010-2012 after serving as an assistant from 1999-2006. Florida State had only two full-time coaches from 1976 to 2017 -- Fisher from 2010 to 2019, and legendary coach Bobby Bowden, who served 37 years as head coach. Defensive line coach Odell Haggins, a 26-year veteran of the FSU coaching staff, will serve as the interim head coach for the rest of 2019.
