Merritt Island man fatally shot after breaking into home, deputies say
MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. โ A 32-year-old man was shot and killed after the residents of a Merritt Island home returned to find him inside their house, according to the Brevard County Sheriffโs Office. Brevard County deputies began conducting a death investigation into a shooting that occurred at a Merritt Island home overnight Tuesday. When deputies arrived, the homeowner walked outside to tell deputies his son was holding Dodge at gunpoint until authorities arrived. Deputies said when they were preparing to enter the home, another altercation occurred inside and Dodge was shot, according to the news release. The sheriffโs office did not identify the residents involved or the person who shot Dodge.
Osceola County deputy under investigation after video shows him slamming student
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. โ A criminal investigation has been opened after an Osceola County deputy was caught on video slamming a high school student to the ground. Moments later, the deputy can be seen placing the student in handcuffs while a second deputy stands over them. Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez addressed the video in a news conference Wednesday, saying the agency has decided to turn over the investigation as a criminal investigation to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The female student went after another student and the situation escalated, according to the sheriffโs office. $39,000 grant buys new cameras for Orange County Sheriffโs Office

The feeds include traffic cameras, intersection cameras, city and county cameras and school cameras. Missing Ohio woman found safe in Marion County
MARION COUNTY, Fla. โ An Ohio woman who had been missing since Jan. 5 was found safe in Marion County on Monday, the Sheriffโs Office said. Authorities said Julia Euphoria May had last been seen Jan. 5 in Cincinnati. Her vehicle was found one week later near Highway 316 and Northwest 145th Avenue in Marion County. Deputies on Monday did not provide details explaining the circumstances of Mayโs disappearance or where she was found. No further information was immediately available.
