Halfway through the Thanksgiving travel season, the Orlando International Airport is facing challenges with record-high passenger traffic, according to airport officials.

Approaching Thanksgiving, the Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest in the country, and MCO just revised its projections for the holiday week and now expects to handle 14.5% more traffic than this time last year.

According to airport officials, nearly 4.4 million domestic and international passengers traveled through OIA in May, an increase of 17%. According to airport officials, nearly 4.3 million domestic and international passengers traveled through OIA in April, an increase of 31.5% from the same period in 2021. “These solid April numbers show the importance that domestic and international business and leisure travelers have placed on travel, even during challenging economic times,” Thibault said. ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando residents, breathe a sigh of relief. Orlando was ranked as one of the cleanest cities for short-term particle pollution for the sixth consecutive State of the Air report by the American Lung Association. While Orlando did get high marks for short-term particle pollution, its rankings were “mixed” for particle pollution and ozone pollution, some of the most harmful and widespread types of air pollution, the news release states. Both ozone and particle pollution can cause premature death and other serious health effects such as asthma attacks, cardiovascular damage, and developmental and reproductive harm. Particle pollution can also cause lung cancer,” Ashley Lyerly, Senior Director of Advocacy for Florida for the Lung Association said in a news release.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Split Oak Forest currently offers 1,700 acres of tranquility, but it may not be that way for long. The Central Florida Expressway Authority wants to extend Osceola Parkway more than a mile across the southwest corner of the forest. In Tallahassee on Wednesday, the Florida Communities Trust Governing Board decided that the Osceola Parkway could, in fact, go through the forest. In December 2019, Orange County approved an $800 million toll road to go through the forest. Officials with the environmental group Friends of Split Oak said they will sue forwhat was not only promised, but was also decided on by voters.
