A 30-year-old Auburndale man was arrested in Georgia on March 10 after allegedly leading investigators to the body of a man he was accused of strangling to death in Polk County, according to the Auburndale Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A middle school teacher is now facing charges after Polk County deputies say they found her intoxicated behind the wheel. Authorities say the 40-year-old was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle smoking what appeared to be marijuana. After testing Reinert’s cigarette, deputies say they confirmed Reinert was smoking marijuana. Deputies say she has previously been arrested on charges of armed robbery and false imprisonment.
Suspects sold ‘jail broken’ Amazon Fire Sticks at Florida flea market, deputies say
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Four different vendors at a flea market in Auburndale were selling “jail broken” Amazon Fire Sticks that allowed consumers to get TV shows and movies for free, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they received complaints about the devices being sold at International Market World Flea Market and went undercover to investigate. Undercover detectives went to four different vendors and purchased “jail broken” Fire Sticks for anywhere from $80 to $107 and in most cases, received a tutorial on how to use the devices. All four suspects were from Lakeland and Roe was the only one who was not “jail breaking” the devices on his own, according to a news release. Consumers beware, there really is not an honest way to get something for nothing,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Man, 60, killed when car rear-ends tractor-trailer in Orange County
ORLANDO, Fla. – A 60-year-old Auburndale man was killed Friday morning in a crash in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck happened around 4:45 a.m. on Landstreet Road near Orange Avenue. The FHP said the man was driving a car east on Landstreet when a semitrailer in front of him slowed to make a left turn. The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP report. The woman driving the big rig was not injured.
