Starting in January, the Orange County Library System will stage a series of music events, fiber arts projects, virtual reality experiences and signature author series’ throughout 2023 leading up to the exact 100th anniversary date of Nov. 8, 2023.

We all had to adjust to living in a “new normal” during the COVID-19 pandemic, but some things are starting to go back to the way they were before, and that now includes in-person events at Orange County libraries.

5 things you can do for free with your library card
We’ll start with five things you can do with your library card, through the Orange County Library System. Binge-watch quality movies and TV series through streaming services such as Kanopy and Hoopla Digital, without paying for costly subscriptions. AdMake sure your library card is in good standing. In the interim, Circulation staff will email you with your library card number, so you can start using the digital resources right away, until the physical card arrives. A library card also provides free access to arts, cultural and entertainment venues through the Local Wanderer program.

Attack in Daytona Beach library sends 1 to hospital
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A person was attacked and seriously injured Tuesday inside a Daytona Beach library, according to police. The attack happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Daytona Beach Regional Library at City Island at 105 E. Magnolia Ave, police said. The victim, believed to be a woman who works at the library, was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, police said. The suspected attacker was taken into police custody, according to authorities. No other details, including what prompted the attack, have been released.
