Robyne Meeker is enjoying the island life. She has a seat in her lawn chair just feet from the water. A breeze flows through the queen palms just overhead. But this is no tropical getaway. She’s up against her Osteen home on the last sliver of land not yet taken by the St. Johns River.
Missing boater found dead after vessel capsizes in St. Johns River
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – One male was rescued and another was found dead after their boat capsized Monday night on the St. Johns River in Seminole County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The males were on a 13-foot boat near Mullet Lake Park around 7 p.m. when the vessel overturned for an unknown reason. Officials said both victims tried to swim toward the shore but one of them went under the water and never resurfaced. The other victim was found dead during the overnight hours on the water bottom near the boat. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the FWC conducted the search using dive teams and a helicopter.

Gas line rupture sparks massive fire in Sanford; 800 homes evacuated
SANFORD, Fla. A massive fire erupted early Thursday in Sanford when a gas line ruptured, prompting officials to evacuate 800 nearby homes. Crews discovered the ruptured 12-inch gas line in a remote area near the Black Bear Wilderness Area. Its not known what caused the gas line to rupture. Some gathered at a nearby gas station.

Trump supporters in Florida were celebrating the president's birthday Sunday with caravans, flotillas and parades throughout his adopted homestate. In Palm Beach County home of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort separate caravans of trucks, motorcycles and boats were riding along highways and the intercoastal waterway at various times in the morning. The organizers were part of the president's Florida re-election effort. The Palm Beach Post reports that an anti-Trump caravan also was riding through the county Sunday to protest racism and call for police reforms.
Dive teams find man dead after boat capsized on St. Johns River
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was found dead after going missing in the St. Johns River after a canoe capsized on Sunday, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Authorities with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said a canoe with a man and woman were on the St. Johns River near State Road 40 in Astor and their boat capsized at around 2:30 p.m. Neighbors told News 6 they got into their boats and went out on the water to help rescue the two when they heard cries for help from the river. The FWC said the woman was able to swim until she was brought to shore by a good samaritan. Crews from Florida Fish and Wildlife, Lake County deputies as well as Fire & Rescue, and Volusia County Deputies were on hand for the search, which ended when the man’s body was found a little before 8:30 p.m.FWC officials later identified the man as Francisco Gomez Sergio, 58.
