Investigators say a former Florida State football player had been involved in a scuffle with his girlfriend hours before he fatally shot one man and injured another.

But the Florida Supreme Court struck down a state law that said courts should use a similar standard when considering grandparents’ petitions for visitation. A potential state law expanding grandparents’ rights might be upheld as constitutional if it requires a court to consider a detriment to the child, such as abuse, abandonment or neglect, she said. Sen. Darryl Rouson, who also worked on a 2015 law dealing with grandparents’ rights, said grandparents are a crucial part of children’s lives.

The Florida State vs. Virginia football game has been postponed due to coronavirus cases, according to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich said the school had followed all ACC protocol in the week leading to the game. According to the ACC, the postponement followed Saturday morning’s game conference call. It’s unfortunate that we will not have the opportunity to compete today, but we hope to be able to play Clemson in December. It is the 81st on the season since schedules were set in late August — and believed to be the first game postponed on the day of the game.

Man, 60, shot, killed during robbery on porch of Winter Garden home

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A 60-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed Wednesday night during a robbery on the front porch of a Winter Garden home, according to police. Winter Garden police said Jose Manuel Clas Gonzalez died in the shooting, which was reported at 8:42 p.m. in the 1000 block of Lincoln Terrace. Police said officers were called to the home and found Clas Gonzalez suffering from gunshot wounds. Police performed CPR on Clas Gonzalez until emergency crews took him to Orlando Regional Medical Center. According to authorities, it appears Clas Gonzalez was confronted by at least one gunman who tried to rob him.

Woman accused of attacking acquaintance in Port Orange

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A woman attacked an acquaintance Wednesday at a home in the Sweetwater subdivision, according to the Port Orange Police Department. Police said they arrested Dana Reeves, 31, and transported the victim to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Report: Legendary FSU head coach Bobby Bowden tests positive for COVID-19

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bobby Bowden, the legendary Florida State football coach, has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Bowden, 90, told the newspaper Monday morning that he was diagnosed with the virus the day after being released from a local hospital last weekend. Bowden said he’s the only person in his household who has tested positive for the coronavirus. 11 arrested at house party thrown by banned FSU fraternity

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Eleven people were arrested Sunday in connection with a party hosted by a fraternity that was banned by Florida State University for hazing and alcohol violations earlier this year, campus police said. Police arrested seven students affiliated with Alpha Tau Omega fraternity on charges of hosting an open house party where alcohol was served to minors, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. Campus police said in a report that they saw two women leaving the party with drinks around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Both were over 21 and told officers they'd gotten the drinks inside the fraternity house. The fraternity did not appeal the universitys decision to dismiss it from campus on Aug. 17, university spokesman Dennis Schnittker told the newspaper.

Amber Alert issued for 5-year-old, 6-month-old boys

A Florida Amber Alert was issued Thursday for two young boys thought to have been last seen in the Panhandle area. Casen Page, 5, and Caden Page, 6 months, were last seen Wednesday in the Bonifay area. They may be with their father Joseph Page. The boys and their father may be traveling in a 2014 white Ford Escape with tag number 0768TW that has an FSU tag in the front and an FSU sticker on the back of the vehicle. Anyone who has information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Holmes County Sheriff's Officeat 1-850-547-3681 or call 911.
