Woman drowns after falling off jet ski on Lake Bryan, deputies say
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ A woman drowned Friday afternoon when she fell off her jet ski while riding in Lake Bryan, according to the Orange County Sheriffโs Office. The Sheriffโs Office and Orange County Fire and Rescue responded to a drowning at the lake around 2:50 p.m. on Friday. The 49-year-old was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Lake Bryan is located behind several resorts along east of Interstate 4 and west of International Drive. No other information was immediately available.
Report: 1-year-old son of Gregory Edwards pronounced dead
According to Brevard County Sheriffโs Office reports, detectives and crime scene technicians are investigating to โdetermine the circumstances relatedโ to the death of the 18-month-old child. Kathleen Edwards, the childโs mother and Gregory Edwardsโ widow, called 911 around 9 a.m. June 28. Edwards was detained and taken to the Brevard County Jail where he fought with corrections officers. Family, friends and activists have called for the release of the jail video showing Edwards. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has said the video will not be released publicly, citing security reasons, but has offered to allow Edwardsโ widow to see the footage.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ Officials in Central Florida are urging families to stay vigilant and safe while staying at home during the coronavirus pandemic. According to officials, drowning is the leading cause of death for children under five in Florida. โWith people staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic, pool season has started earlier than the traditional end-of-school-year,โ officials said. Ron DeSantis imposed the stay-at-home order, Orange County Fire Rescue has responded to several pediatric drowning calls. โWe want people to enjoy pool time, but we also want them to be safe,โ OCFR said in a news release.
