ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Wheel at ICON Park is back open more than a month after passengers had to be rescued from the ride after a power failure. The attraction had been closed since the power failure on New Year’s Eve. ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Fire Rescue spent New Years Eve rescuing riders that were stuck on the wheel, hundreds of feet in the air. Firefighters used cranes to reach the people trapped inside 20 different pods. All 62 people who were stuck were safely rescued according to the fire department. ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wheel at ICON Park has added a new level of interaction to its towering attraction. Bullseye Blast will allow riders aboard the wheel’s air-conditioned capsules to scan the rooftops and use interactive laser blasters to hit 50 strategically placed targets with varying degrees of difficulty, ICON Park said this week. Players must hit as many of the targets as possible with the laser blasters, which are custom-made and equipped with an infrared beam to help aim at the targets. Some of the restaurants at Icon Park, the home base for Orlando’s Wheel, reopened earlier this month. Due to the coronavirus, management at The Wheel at ICON Park have implemented new protocols to keep guests at a distance in line with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. “At ICON Park, we’re devoted to providing the ultimate entertainment experience for our guests. In one convenient place, you can find world class attractions, excellent restaurants and live entertainment,” ICON Park president and CEO Chris Jaskiewicz said.
Countdown to kickoff: ICON Park Orlando offers special for UF vs. UM
ORLANDO, Fla. - If you're looking for a place to kick off the college football season, ICON Park would be a spirited place to go. The Wheel will be lit in University of Miami and University of Florida colors to celebrate Saturday's big game. ICON Park also wants UM and UF fans to count down to kickoff with its college football special. On Friday and Saturday, guests who purchase the ticket special will get a ride on The Wheel and can pick between a UM Hurricanes specialty cocktail or Florida Swamp special. Tickets for ICON Park Orlandos Countdown to Kickoff can be purchased at the gate and are only available Friday and Saturday.
