26-year-old man dies in crash on Pine Hills Road
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. โ A 26-year-old Orlando man was killed during a crash on Pine Hills Road Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Trooper said the crash took place Monday at 1:10 p.m. on Pine Hills Road at Champagne Circle. The 32-year-old man driving the other car suffered minor injuries, according to the report. Fatal crash on Pine Hills Road on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021. Southbound lanes of Pine Hills Road were blocked following the crash, troopers said.
Florida trooper shoots gunman who ambushed him in patrol car
MIAMI โ A gunman who ambushed a state trooperโs patrol car on a Florida highway was shot when the trooper inside returned fire, authorities said Thursday. The trooper was not hit but his car was riddled with bullets, highway patrol Lt. Alejandro Camacho told news outlets. The trooper was guarding a lane closure for a construction project when the man abruptly stopped his car and opened fire, Camacho said. โIt almost seems like the trooper was targeted," Camacho said. The Highway Patrol did not release any further information.

One man in Florida found himself face-to-face with the Florida Highway Patrol after investigators said he was throwing golf clubs at traffic on I-75. According to troopers, Jonathan Edward Day, 41, of North Port was driving north on I-75 Wednesday. During his drive, troopers said Day was throwing golf clubs out of his van at adjacent traffic. Online jail records showed Day was being held at the Hillsborough County Jail Thursday morning. Jail records listed him as unemployed.
