AdventHealth opens first community vaccination site near Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, Fla. โ More than 1,500 people 65 or older or health care workers with affiliations to AdventHealth pulled into an empty economy parking lot at the Orlando International Airport Tuesday to get their first dose of Modernaโs COVID-19 vaccine through AdventHealth. Itโs the first community vaccination site provided by the health care system. โWe set this up to be able to give as many shots as our community needs as we are able to get them,โ said Dr. Scott Brady, CEO of AdventHealth Centra Care. Last week, AdventHealth sent an email to patients and employees saying they were going to open up 7,000 appointments. AdventHealth saying they have no extras left.

ORLANDO, Fla. โ As the holiday season winds down, plenty of travelers are heading home, which means a busy weekend for Orlando International Airport. Sunday, Jan. 3 is expected to be the busiest day for the airport this holiday season, with nearly 45,000 departing passengers. | Strange Florida: Hereโs the proof]The numbers come despite recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to stay home this holiday season. Last month, airport leaders announced travelers would soon be able to get tested for COVID-19 at a clinic near the west end of the terminal. The testing clinic was projected to open in December, however, a spokesperson at Orlando International Airport confirmed that the clinic has not opened yet and said airport officials continue to coordinate with AdventHealth Centra Care over how the setup will work.
TSA agents recover 5 guns in 7 days at Orlando International Airport
ORLANDO, Fla. For the fifth time in a week, TSA agents at Orlando International Airport found a gun at a security checkpoint, according to authorities. The most recent case happened Wednesday, officials said. Investigators said they stopped Andrew Harfield, of Kissimmee, after a screener noticed a gun in his bag as it went through an X-ray machine. Agents said they also found about 40 bullets inside the bag. No other details have been released.
