‘Father of Modern Officiating’: NFL referee Art McNally dies

Art McNally was considered the “Father of Modern Officiating.” He was the first on-field official named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. McNally died Sunday at the age of 97, according to the Hall of Fame and the NFL. McNally started as an NFL field judge in 1959, a referee from 1060 to 1967 and NFL Supervisor of Officials from 1967 until he retired in 1991. McNally even has an award named in his honor given to current or former officials who “embody professionalism, leadership and sportsmanship.”The NFL game day officiating command center in New York is named after McNally — the Art McNally GameDay Central. Go ahead and go.’ That was the extent of the conversation between Fred Swearingen and myself,” McNally told USA Today.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Wall Crawl is known for being a picture studio where visitors can get some Instagram-worthy content by posing in front of their 20-plus walls. The studio first opened in August 2019, and ever since, Wall Crawl has made sure to have a Black History Month wall. Dad’s amateur pet portraits raise $15,000 for homeless charity

LONDON – A British man is proving you don’t have to be the most talented to make a difference through art. The father’s amateur pet portraits have helped raise thousands of dollars for charity, despite being not entirely accurate. Heckles says he received an overwhelming response, including requests from other people wanting sketches of their pets. Instead of charging for the drawings, Heckles set up a fundraiser for Turning Tides, a charity that helps the homeless. He says so far he has done about 220 portraits and raised over $15,000.

ORLANDO, Fla – Walt Disney World said Wednesday that the Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts will begin on Jan. 8. Disney officials called the festival a global celebration of the visual, culinary and performing arts. Winter Springs cancels Festival of the Arts due to coronavirus

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – As cases of COVID-19 continue to be reported in Florida, one town is canceling one of its annual festivals. “Out of an abundance of caution, the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce leadership team has canceled its 13th Annual Winter Springs Festival of the Arts,” officials said Tuesday. The community event was scheduled for the weekend of October 17 at the Winter Springs Town Center. “While we are disappointed, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our annual Winter Springs Festival of the Arts this year following the protocols of the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event,” OWSRCC President, CEO Bridget Lake explained.

"I had seen on Facebook some other people using chalk drawings with like uplifting messages," Drake said.
