A man was ejected from his car in a single-vehicle, rollover crash Monday morning on Interstate 4 in Osceola County before he was run over and killed by one or more vehicles, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Investigators believe the man was run over by more than one eastbound vehicle, with those drivers possibly unaware that they struck the victim, the FHP said. Driver ticketed in crash that killed 4 family members near Disney
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was issued a ticket and taken into federal custody for a visa violation in connection with a crash that killed four people last month near Walt Disney World, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Lucas Dos Reis Laurindo, 26, was issued a ticket for careless driving last week, the strongest charge that could be made against him, the FHP said in a news release. Four occupants of the van were killed, as a result of the crash, troopers said. Dos Reis Laurindo was taken into custody by federal law enforcement for a visa violation on Feb. 28, the FHP said. The FHP said it sends its condolences to the surviving family members.
Surviving family members recount crash that left 4 dead near Disney World
Surviving relatives of four people killed in a crash along State Road 429 near Walt Disney World are sharing their story for the first time. Shane Smith and his father-in-law, Bill Fay, were inside a van with several other family members when they were rear-ended at a high speed earlier this month. According to WBZ-TV in Boston, the family was just one day into their Disney vacation when the crash happened. We know they’re all in heaven. A viewing for the victims will be held Friday in Massachusetts, with the funerals the following day.
Sanford man, 61, killed in motorcycle crash
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old Sanford man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thanksgiving night, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The FHP said Francis Mascaro died in the wreck, which happened around 9 p.m. on State Road 429 near State Road 46. 429 when he lost control of his bike, which struck a curb and culvert. Mascaro, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike, according to troopers. The crash is under investigation.

Brush fire closes State Road 429 in Orange County
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A brush fire shut down parts of State Road 429 in Wednesday afternoon, according to Orange County Fire Rescue officials. Orange County Fire Rescue responded to the brush fire around 2 p.m. The fire is about one acre in size in the wooded area between McCormick and Ocoee Apopka roads at mile marker 28. Man charged with DUI manslaughter in double fatal crash in Ocoee
Florida Highway PatrolORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - An Apopka man has been charged with DUI manslaughter in a double fatal crash on State Road 429 near State Road 50 in Ocoee on the night of April 11. The Florida Traffic Crash report shows Thomas Greene, 25, had a blood alcohol level of .23. The Florida Highway Patrol said Greene was driving a 2007 Ford pickup north on the entrance ramp from S.R. The driver of the Toyota, Yordani Mellado Perez, 39, of Apopka, and one of two passengers in the pickup died in the crash, troopers said. The crash report showed a diagram of the crash.

APOPKA, Fla. - The last major step toward completing the new full interchange between State Road 429 and State Road 414 is underway this week. Drivers will see construction in that area as the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority finish up the final paving operations.
