AdventHealth hosting pop-up COVID-19 vaccination event near Orlando airport
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – AdventHealth will be hosting another COVID-19 vaccination pop-up event at its site near the Orlando International Airport and this time any resident 40 and older is eligible. “We are thankful for community partners such as AdventHealth for stepping up to help us distribute even more vaccines in Orange County,” Demings said. The Florida Department of Health in Orange County allocated 3,500 doses to be used during the event. During a previous pop-up event in February, 3,000 shots were given to health care workers only. Flagler County COVID-19 vaccine event offers shots for people with diabetes
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Any adult with type 1 or 2 diabetes can sign up for the coronavirus vaccine during a special event in Palm Coast happening April 8. The Flagler County Department of Health and AdventHealth Palm Coast are hosting the vaccine event from 9 a.m. to noon. Dr. Stephen Bickel, medical director for DOH-Flagler, said people with diabetes are more vulnerable to COVID-19, according to early studies of the virus. Those interested in receiving the Moderna vaccine must preregister with DOH-Flagler’s Diabetes Education Center by calling 386-313-7263 or 386-313-7264. On the day of the vaccinations, people should head to 60 Memorial Parkway in Palm Coast and enter the hospital near the outpatient entrance and follow signage to Classroom D.

AdventHealth workers reflect on their journey throughout the pandemic
Orlando, Fla. – It was March 5, 2020 when AdventHealth saw its first COVID patient. “He was here with us and it was early in the pandemic and we didn’t know a lot about the disease we didn’t know a lot about treating it,” Johnson said. AdRandy Haffner, CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division, was in Utah at a conference when the shutdowns began. AdventHealth officials said this was the challenge healthcare workers didn’t see coming from working long hours daily, to shortage of medical supplies, to seeing patients pass from the virus. Orlando police called to hospital after woman shows up with gunshot wound
ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman was shot Monday night in Orlando, according to police. According to Orlando police, officers were called to AdventHealth after the victim was taken to the hospital. New Sanford clinic offers ‘Hope & Healing’ for people recovering from addiction
SANFORD, Fla. – The Hope & Healing Center opened Monday in Sanford offering treatment for those battling addiction. The new facility, a partnership between Seminole County and AdventHealth, is designed to address the ongoing opioid crisis. Opioid overdoses increased last year by more than 50%, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, with nearly 62 overdoses per month in 2020. Currently, 10 inpatient residents can be housed at Hope & Healing. The Hope & Healing Center is the first of its kind, offering a wide range of counseling and support services that go beyond discharge from the facility including educational, vocational and housing needs.

COVID-19 pandemic not affecting heart transplant surgeries at AdventHealth
ORLANDO, Fla. – Hospital officials said the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t affecting AdventHealth’s transplant program. AdventHealth adjusts visitor policy as COVID-19 hospitalizations decline
ORLANDO, Fla. – AdventHealth has announced updates to its visitor policy for health facilities in Central Florida. However, AdventHealth stressed visitors must be the same two people per day, according to a news release. AdventHealth said in a press release its operation is “business as usual, without restrictions on procedures.”Dr. Neil Finkler, AdventHealth Chief Medical Officer for acute care services, said the health care system has been seeing a decline in COVID-19 hospitalizations since January. End-of-life patients, regardless of COVID-19 status, may have two visitors at a time, with a maximum of six visitors per day. Visitors must also comply with social distancing, hand hygiene and any other PPE requirements throughout the duration of the visit, according to the health care system.
