Used car business in Ocala badly damaged by fire
MARION COUNTY, Fla – Good Sam Motors in Ocala is badly damaged after a fire hit the business Thursday night. AdWhen crews arrived on scene the fire was already burning through the roof, firefighters said. Crews said it took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control. OCALA, Fla. – Ocala Police Chief Greg Graham died Sunday morning in a plane crash, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 9700 block of Southwest 140th Avenue near Dunnellon. The crash happened near the Marion County Airport. Ambulance carrying patient struck by SUV in Ocala, officials say
MARION COUNTY, Fla. A Marion County Fire Rescue ambulance was struck Monday afternoon while transporting a patient from another crash, officials said. MCFR said Medic 66, which had its emergency lights and sirens activated, was struck by a mid-sized SUV at the intersection of North U.S. Highway 441 and Northwest 35th Street in Ocala. The SUV hit the passenger side of the ambulance, sending all three crew members to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. Crews work to contain wildfire apparently caused by lightning, officials say
MARION COUNTY, Fla. Crews worked to contain a wildfire apparently caused by lightning, according to the Florida Forest Service. Officials said crews from the Florida Forest Service and Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the wildfire near the intersection of State Road 41 and County Road 328. Smoky conditions may occur in the area, especially during the overnight and early-morning hours, according to the Florida Forest Service. The five-acre wildfire was 100% contained as of Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Pilot dies in Ocala plane crash, officials say
OCALA, Fla. A pilot has died after their small, private plane crashed Wednesday early afternoon, according to Marion County Fire Rescue. Around 10:30 a.m., fire rescue received a call for a plane crash at Leeward Air Ranch at SE 72d Ave., Ocala. The 911 caller told dispatch they could see the pilot was inside the cockpit as the plane crashed during an attempted landing. Multiple rescue crews responded to the scene and found the pilot was still inside the cockpit when the plane landed upside-down, according to officials. The scene was turned over to the Marion County Sheriffs Office and the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were called in to investigate.
Marion fire rescue sends out safety reminder after mobile home fire
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Marion County Fire Rescue said crews were dispatched to a mobile home fire on the 4800 block of 100th Street in Belleview around 12:12 a.m. on Wednesday. The origin of the fire was centered on the chimney area, according to the fire rescue. Rescue 518 arrived on scene at 12:17am to find the double-wide mobile home with smoke coming from the eves. Additional firefighters from Belleview Station #18, Spruce Creek Station #30 and Shady Station #16 arrived shortly after.
