2 Florida men charged with federal hate crime for beating Black man, shouting racial slurs
A grand jury in the Middle District of Florida’s Ocala Division has charged two men with a federal hate crime for their alleged role in the beating of a Black man because of his race, according to the Department of Justice.

Florida children rescue bald eagle found with hook in beak
PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – What would you do if you were walking and found a bald eagle struggling to stay alive? Well, some children in Pasco County are being praised after rescuing a bald eagle and taking it to someone who could help. Once crews took a look, they noticed that the eagle had a fishing hook stuck in its beak and fishing line wrapped around its wings. #GoodNews: Pasco County Fire Rescue assists with the rescue of a Bald Eagle wrapped in a fishing line. Experts say that if you find an injured eagle, you should call authorities immediately.

TAMPA, Fla – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay shared new details Monday about its upcoming Mardi Gras celebration which kicks off on Jan. 16. ’I won’t tolerate it:’ Judge scolds theme park trespasser
Circuit Court Judge Jack Gutman adjudicated St. Cyr guilty and ordered him to pay $303 in court costs. “I know the game going into theme parks when they’re closed and posting them on YouTube,” Gutman told St. Cyr during the hearing. St. Cyr did not respond to a voicemail and text message from News 6 seeking comment for this story. His attorney, Jonah Dickstein, told the judge that St. Cyr is moving on from the conduct that landed him in court. Unlike St. Cyr, a judge did not adjudicate McGuire guilty after he entered a no contest plea, so the Alabama man avoided a criminal conviction on his record.

Busch Gardens employee loses jobless benefits because of duplicate application, DEO says
The Busch Gardens restaurant supervisor told News 6 the DEO notice indicated there were some issues that suggested she might not be eligible after all. When she called the DEO to get some answers, she said the conversation with the woman checking her account was very confusing. ”I said, ‘I just received two checks from you guys.‘”Brannon’s W2 confirms she has been an employee with Busch Gardens and is eligible for unemployment benefits. The single mom of a 17-year-old boy said she has worked for Busch Gardens for “nearly 23 years” and was surprised to see a list of employers and a Social Security number that didn’t match her personal information. Brannon’s account was locked due to duplicate claims (one with a wrong social security number), but our team has been in contact with her and we have resolved her issue,” Landrum wrote.

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld Orlando's "biggest ride yet" could be even bigger than expected. According to a filing with the Federal Aviation Administration, SeaWorld wants the planned roller coaster to rise 201 feet into the sky. The FAA has to sign off on anything taller than 200 feet.
