ORLANDO, Fla. Walt Disney World is preparing for another reopening this week, after welcoming guests back to two of their theme parks Saturday. Epcot and Disneys Hollywood Studios will welcome back parkgoers Wednesday as part of Disneys next steps in its reopening plans. Disney reopened the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on Saturday after the coronavirus pandemic forced the parks to close for nearly four months. In addition, hand sanitizer stations have also been placed around the parks and physical distancing cues and guidelines have been placed on the ground. Drunk Disney guest tries to slap taxi driver over cigarette, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A drunk woman at Disney's Hollywood Studios repeatedly tried to slap a taxi driver because he didn't have any cigarettes to give her, then kicked a deputy as she was being arrested, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said they spotted Ellen McMillion, 53, Thursday night as she yelled at a taxi driver in the parking lot and tried to slap him. When deputies approached McMillion, she was slurring her words, smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on her feet, according to authorities. She told deputies several times that she was drunk and she wouldn't cooperate with the investigation until someone gave her a cigarette, the report said. McMillion was placed in handcuffs but deputies said she tried to pull away as they approached the patrol car.

Disney announces opening date for new 'Star Wars' experiences

ORLANDO, Fla. – Disney announced Monday that new "Star Wars" experiences will open Dec. 1 at Hollywood Studios, but the park is no longer offering "Star Wars" Weekends. In a post on the Disney Parks Blog, the entertainment giant said, "'Star Wars' Launch Bay will take guests into the "Star Wars" saga and the upcoming film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," with special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, special merchandise and opportunities to encounter Chewbacca and Darth Vader." Three other "Star Wars" experiences will also be offered in early December, according to the blog. Construction will begin next year on Disney's "Star Wars"-themed land, preventing the park from offering "Star Wars" Weekends, according to the park, which added that with the new offerings guests will be "able to step into the "Star Wars" saga every time they visit Disney's Hollywood Studios. American Idol Experience closing at Disney's Hollywood Studios

ORLANDO, Fla. – The American Idol Experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios is closing. The show, which debuted at Walt Disney World in 2009, includes a host and three judges who give feedback to the contestants. "We are incredibly proud of the more than 2,000 Dream Tickets that have given guests a chance to live their very own Cinderella story and audition for American Idol." Disney said three of the top 13 contestants on the TV show were originally discovered through the American Idol Experience. "We expect the attraction to continue providing top contestants for American Idol XIV in the coming year," the statement said.
