Woman shot during robbery in Rockledge, police say
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – A woman was shot during a robbery early Monday morning, according to the Rockledge Police Department. Cash was taken during the robbery at about 3:50 a.m. and the victim was shot in the hand, records show. AdThe 25-year-old victim, Tatyana Perry, owns the salon. Dispatchers said Perry reported that the suspect was a white male with a gun and that she was pushed over. Police said investigators didn’t know why Perry was at the store at 3 a.m.Dispatchers relayed she drove herself to the hospital.
Coronavirus variant cases on the rise in Florida
ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida has seen a big jump in the number of cases caused by coronavirus variants. According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cases of the so-called U.K. variant have more than doubled to nearly 2,300 in Florida since last week. Overall cases in several states, including Florida, have been trending slightly higher. AdSince the coronavirus was first discovered, new variants of the virus have been documented in the United States and around the world. This variant was first detected in the United States at the end of December 2020.
Gas prices dip in Florida, but ship blocking Suez Canal could cause future increase
ORLANDO, Fla. – There’s some good news for drivers in Florida. According to new numbers released by AAA, gas prices have slipped 2 cents per gallon in the past week. The agency says the average price for a gallon of regular in Florida is now $2.88, down from $2.90 a gallon last week. AdHowever, things could change. AAA expects gas prices to be impacted by the container ship that is blocking block part of the Suez Canal, a major waterway for fuel shipments.
Fire consumes Orange County home
PINE HILLS, Fla. – A fire broke out early Monday at a house in Pine Hills. “Crews currently have a good knockdown on the fire with no reported injuries at this time.”AdThe state fire marshal will investigate the cause of the blaze. Orange County fire crews are working to put out hot spots after a house went up in flames. in Pine Hills just after 5:30 this morning. No injuries reported at this time.
18-year-old driver dies, teen injured in I-95 crash, troopers say
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old man died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP troopers said they responded to the wreck at 12:45 a.m. near mile marker 162 in Brevard County. According to the FHP crash report, the 18-year-old from Coral Springs was driving north on I-95 when for an unknown reason his vehicle left the highway and struck a pole. According to the report, it’s unknown if the driver was wearing his seatbelt. The 16-year-old injured in the crash was wearing her seatbelt.
